Pharmacists who hold a current certificate of registration in another Canadian jurisdiction may apply for registration in the Special Class for a maximum period of 45 days. The special class of registration is intended to allow pharmacists to practice for a limited time and specific purpose, such as practicing as a locum pharmacist for a specified period of time or covering pharmacist services in the event of an emergency. A pharmacist may apply for Special registration a maximum of twice in one year.
The requirements for Special Registration are set out in the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician Regulations.
Unless otherwise specified, all documentation must be received by the PEI College of Pharmacy in its original form or as a notarized copy. Original documents may be presented to the PEI College of Pharmacy office to be copied by staff.
Applicants may download a registration checklist to assist them in registering in the Special Class.
Applicants for registration in the Special Class must complete and submit the Pharmacist Special Application form.
Proof of Identity
Applicants must submit proof of identity with either a passport OR a birth certificate or Canadian citizenship certificate and a piece of government-issued photo identification.
Letter of Standing
Applicants are required to submit a letter of standing from all regulatory bodies where they have held a registration. Please contact each regulatory body to request that the PEICP Letter of Standing form be completed and forwarded directly to the PEI College of Pharmacy office.
